Guests Sail Down the Aisle for a Windstar Destination Wedding

Wind Star guests and newlyweds Jeff & Shari were recently married on the bow of our yacht in picturesque Santorini, Greece, and were gracious enough to allow us to feature their magical day.

“Very rarely in our lives are we lucky or privileged enough to be able to use the word “perfect” for an experience or encounter with people. Our voyage on Wind Star in June is one of those rare opportunities. To say that our expectations for our wedding were met is a gross understatement. Captain Leech and the entire crew and hotel staff could not have possibly done more or showed more genuine concern and real caring for my family.” – Jeff (groom)

The couple’s wedding began the night before with a romantic pre-wedding turn down and a wedding package for the bride, which included wedding-themed movies and roses. The day of the wedding, Shari and her bridesmaids hit the spa for a day of pampering over mimosas while Jeff and his son took off on a surprise boat ride around the Nea Kameni volcano in Santorini. During this time, the Wind Star crew was busy at work setting up the bow and fly bridge for the sunset wedding and intimate dinner to follow.

With Captain Leech, the crew and officers in place, the bride sailed down the aisle to “Ave Maria” to meet her prince charming where the Captain performed his ceremonial vows and the couple and their three children took part in a family unity sand ceremony. Jeff and Shari’s children wrote and performed a song for them and then the couple and their wedding party hit the yacht barbecue were they were officially announced as Mr. and Mrs.

The celebration kicked-off with an intimate dinner on the fly bridge along with a beautiful cake made by the yacht’s pastry chef in the couple’s wedding colors of white and blue.

Later that evening during the crew show, the first song, a remake of Bruno Mars “Marry You” was dedicated to the newlyweds. The bride tossed her bouquet to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and then Shari shared her first slow dance with her husband Jeff.

When they returned to their suite that night it was romantically decorated for their first night as husband and wife.

Here’s a look at their special day:

“On behalf of my wife and three children, I wish to thank Windstar Cruises for giving us a wedding and experience that will never be surpassed and will be remembered with real fondness and warmth for Captain Leech and the entire Wind Star crew.” – Jeff (groom)
