Cruise Caribbean

Windstar Guest Spotlight – Wind Surf Review

We’ve recently received a guest review from the December 8th Flavors of the Caribbean voyage onboard the renovated Wind Surf that we just had to share:

My first experience with Windstar Cruises was in December of 2010.  My brother, who is a travel agent, won a cruise on the Wind Surf.  His guest backed out at the last minute, so my brother invited me instead.  Boy, was I glad he did!

From the first moment I stepped foot on your ship, I felt “pampered” and oh so relaxed.  It was truly like my own private yacht. That cruise was so amazing, that once I returned home, I talked about it non-stop to my husband so much that he then surprised me with a cruise on the Wind Surf for our 26th wedding anniversary this year!

Don’t worry, the Captain was still on the bridge!

I thought the ship was beautiful before, but she is even more beautiful after the recent renovations. The cabins are beautiful!  The fresh fruit, flowers and mini bar were always fresh and well stocked.  The L’Occitane bath products are so luxurious and much appreciated.  I didn’t have to pack any shampoos or lotions like I usually do on a cruise.  Our cabin steward, Tenso, met our every need, most often without us even asking.

The quality of the food onboard is outstanding.  I ate not one thing that I would not eat again.  Each meal was wonderful.  The fact that we could get our entire meal in our cabin, course by course, if we wanted, was amazing.  Lobster in the cabin…AWESOME!

The wait staff and crew are first class.  There were even three waiters who remembered me from the cruise two years ago.  Once a crew member learns your name, he greets you personally at each meeting.  The waiter, Jun, was especially wonderful.  He went out of his way to make sure we had any and everything we needed.  There are so many people on board who made this cruise so special, I could not name them all.

My husband was also impressed with the food, staff, and accommodations, especially since there were 250 plus guests onboard. There were many times we felt we had the ship to ourselves.  It’s truly an experience unlike any other. We’ve cruised several large cruise lines with our children, but after Windstar, we both agree, we could never go back without constantly comparing them …and we’ve been on 15 prior cruises!!  Quite frankly, we don’t want to ever cruise with anyone else.

When the sails unfurl each evening, with the beautiful music playing, it’s so breathtaking.  I just know other ships are jealous. I love the fact Windstar can go to ports other larger ships cannot.  I’ve been able to see some tiny amazing islands.  I also really enjoy the water sports platform off the back of the ship.  There is nothing cooler than being able to swim, float, kayak or boat from the back of your cruise ship!

I could go on and on with accolades, but I wouldn’t be able to stop.  My husband and I agree that we have never felt so relaxed on a vacation.  Truly, our cruise on the Wind Surf was absolutely, hands down, THE BEST cruise we have EVER been on!  I have recommended it to every person I know.  And I cannot wait to book our next cruise with Windstar.  This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

This September will be our first windstar cruise. Cruised with royal Caribbean and carnival many times with our children. First time without them. Not sure of what to bring. Going from Ireland to Portugal.
