We completed the first phase of Wind Surf’s refurbishment encompassing the yacht’s staterooms, suites, bridge suites and corridors. Guests on the December 10, Yachtsman’s Caribbean voyage set sail from St. Maarten with the new, luxurious and stylish accommodations and corridors. Now it’s your turn to see the updates which are part of Windstar’s $18 million fleet refurbishment!
“The new look enables us to provide a unique, boutique yacht vacation that is 180 Degrees from Ordinary,” said Hans Birkholz, President and CEO of Windstar Cruises.
Wind Surf’s staterooms now feature leather headboards, stately arm chairs, linen wall coverings, new lighting features, elegant window coverings, plush wool carpeting, art work and stylish bed cushions. Suites are additionally outfitted with new furniture that converts easily to lounging, dining, or accommodating a third occupant. Corridors were completely renovated from floor to ceiling with new wall coverings, carpeting, ceiling finishes, lighting and art work.
The second phase of refurbishment will take place in the fall of 2012 and focuses on public spaces including the Lounge, The Restaurant, Degrees, Veranda, Compass Rose, WindSpa, Yacht Club and Pool Bar. Wind Star and Wind Spirit will undergo complete refurbishments of staterooms, owner’s suite, and corridors along with public spaces including The Restaurant, Veranda, Lounge, WindSpa, Library, Reception, and Pool Bar following their respective Costa Rica and Caribbean seasons. After the completion of work, both yachts begin their Mediterranean seasons with Wind Spirit starting April 15, 2012, and Wind Star beginning April 29, 2012.

Giving it the “Star Treatment”
It’s about time this fleet renovated! While I liked the sail ship cruise, I thought the ship itself was rusty, dirty, and in dire need of this renovation. Once the entire ship is done, I’ll be booking a cruise to check it out.
We hope to see you on an upcoming cruise! Your feedback means a great deal to us – please let us know what you think of the decor once you’ve sailed on the refurbished yacht!
Loving it! Can’t wait for the next cruise in 2012!
Thanks so much Jeremy! We can’t wait to have you onboard. Let us know what you think of the new decor – you can find us here, at Facebook.com/WindstarCruises and Twitter.com/WindstarCruises!

Everything was perfect for us and it was like the honeymoon we never had after 34 years. We are alredy planning our next cruise on WindSurf in 2012. The crew were all amazing as were everyone we met. We have some new friends to keep in touch with as we sail into 2012. Thanks so much Captain John and all the crew. Happy Hollidays and… Read more »

We are looking forward to seeing our favorite ship Wind Surf in Venice 6/24! We have sailed on her numerous times including our honeymoon in 2001. The renovations are beautiful…
Thank you so much, we are thrilled you like the renovations and we look forward to welcoming you onboard!
I am planning a cruise on the Windsurf in July. Can someone answer two questions for me: is seasickness a problem I have to worry about with the sails? Or does this ship feel like the large cruise ships? Secondly, is it worth upgrading to a category A cabin since they are identical to Cat B, just a deck or two higher?
Thank you!!
We can’t wait to welcome you aboard! We think you will be very pleased with the new decor, but you’ll have to tell us yourself once you’ve returned 🙂 Our guests tell us frequently that they find our yachts to be very smooth on the water even in comparison to much larger ships. Our stabilizers are quite effective. However, we still recommend you take every precaution in advance, including preventative medicines for motion sickness. In regards to Category A cabins versus Category B, yes – they are identical in size. However, Category A cabins are on Deck 2, which will… Read more »
Wow! Love it, can’t wait for the April 2012 Surf Transatlantic. I’ll see all my friends there!

Hi Dianne:
We’ll be aboard also. Can’t wait !!!!!
It sounds like the majority of your passengers are couples. Would it be awkward for me to take this cruise with my mom?
Not at all! We have a wide variety of passengers, including family and friends. We think you will have a wonderful time with your mother 🙂
Just got back from the Windsurf. We had not been on her since 1998 and now looks better then ever. We are already planning our next Windstar cruise.
That is wonderful to hear, and we look forward to welcoming you onboard once again! Thank you so much for sharing.
Best,
The Windstar Team
Lovely designs! You could feel more relax if your would be having a room like this during your trip on the cruise. All the things are being provided to you and there is a place for you to have your own privacy.
Any rooms with two beds?
Hi there, thanks for your question! All of our rooms have queen beds that can be converted to two singles upon request at the time of reservation.
Best,
The Windstar Team
Love what you’ve done.
Already started our countdown…. looking forward to our trip on Windsurf in September.

whats the difference between Cat A and Cat A Deluxe on the WindSurf?
Hi Patti, the difference is the positioning on the ship. Cat A staterooms are located on deck two and Cat A Deluxe are located on deck three with the suites. There are the same layout but there are only nine of the Cat A Deluxe staterooms and they are closer to the amenities.
Wind Surf has a great crew, from stem to stern…I am looking forward to my next trip with them.
Nice that the pictures are on your blog. Why not your regular site???
