Leaving More Than Footprints in Central America

We recently upgraded the TVs in Wind Star’s staterooms, and found ourselves with 36 plasma screen TVs that were still in good condition. The TVs were onboard during the Wind Star’s Costa Rica sailing, the last stop of which was San Juan del Sur – a stunningly beautiful beach town on Nicaragua’s southern Pacific coast.

Nicaragua is an incredibly beautiful country, filled with a kaleidoscope of cultures and topographies. Though the country is an increasingly popular tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts and lays claim to a robust agricultural economy (here you will find the best sugarcane, and consequently rum, in Central America), luxurious amenities are rarities. It is, in fact, the least developed country in Central America. After we were informed as to how difficult it is to come across such TVs in the country, it was an easy decision to donate the plasmas.

Georgina, Wind Star’s Chief Officer, met with the Vice Mayor and selected officials of San Juan del Sur ashore on the tender pier, where they discussed the country’s obstacles in obtaining TVs for education. The Vice Mayor expressed gratitude for the gesture, and informed Georgina they had chosen to disperse the TVs to various schools and hospitals throughout the country, rather than keeping them solely within the town of San Juan del Sur.

We cannot think of a better use for these TVs than helping to provide education for school children and entertainment for hospital patients, and we are thrilled to be able to give something back to the people of Nicaragua. Though we have finished our Costa Rica sailings for the season, it was the perfect way to say farewell to the region until Wind Star returns in December.

The first thing in writing any type of essay is to become aware of the format you are supposed to follow. These formats keep on changing and you should be aware of the latest one. In addition to that, many times instructors prefer to follow a certain format or structure.
