It’s 1986. The first episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show aired, Lady GaGa was born, the New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox in the World Series, and Prince’s “Kiss” blasted from cassette tapes. It was also the year that the msy Wind Star set sail. On September 21, 1986, the 148-guest Wind Star sailed out of Le Havre, France on its first voyage as 25,000 onlookers watched from shore. Elegant and luxurious, she was surely a sight to behold.
Yesterday marked Wind Star’s 25th year of sailing, and she certainly has a great deal to celebrate. 25 years of visiting some of the world’s most captivating destinations and most beautiful waters, carrying an incredible assortment of well-traveled individuals. Looking forward, Wind Star will undergo a complete refurbishment before the beginning of the Mediterranean season in April of 2012.
Captain Chris Norman was guiding Wind Star into Turkey’s southwestern coast on her anniversary, where he led a celebration ceremony for guests, including a special cake and a champagne toast. A moving moment for both the crew and guests, it signified not only the passing of wonderful experiences, but of excitement for what’s to come. Cheers to 25 years of adventures at sea with our loyal guests, and cheers to many more!
