UNEXPECTED AD CAMPAIGN – TAKING WINDSTAR IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION
We’ve been getting great feedback from our newly-launched advertising campaign titled “Unexpected” that is taking Windstar in a new direction. Have you seen our ads in Travel+ Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, and other travel magazines? Read on to find out just what those goats are doing up in the tress.
“Our new “Unexpected” branding campaign emphasizes Windstar’s uniqueness and what makes us different from the rest of the cruise industry. We call out experiences that accentuate Windstar’s focus on doing things differently – 180 Degrees from Ordinary. To capture that perspective, we went on a photoshoot to Agadir, Morocco and Portofino, Italy to take pictures of some less-expected sights like goats in trees. We took pictures of the famous argan tree climbing goats, camels, authentic markets, a Moroccan tea ceremony then moved on to the Star Pride in Portofino to capture fun with our Water Sports Program. The entire photoshoot crew took away something special from this shoot – seeing the world through Windstar’s perspective. What we experienced and loved on our journey, was exactly the experience that Windstar is striving to deliver.
~Jessica Chiang, Director of Marketing Communications
Unexpected fact or fiction? While exploring Morocco, make sure to look up, because the goats of Agadir climb trees to escape Barbary Lions.
In the semi-deserts of southwest Morocco, goats climb a 30-ft argan tree to dine on its bitter fruit. Unable to digest the nuts, they expel the seeds whole, which are then gathered, cracked open, and mashed to produce the most expensive edible oil in the world. Astonished, thrilled, charmed, a small group of travelers gather around the goats in the tree, taking in this magical sight. If you’re on a Windstar cruise, that traveler might be you.

The Unexpected Sweepstakes cruise for two prize visits Agadir, Morocco where the Unexpected ad campaign was photographed, highlighting some of the unique experiences guests may have on (and off) the Windstar yachts.
